Amanda (Mandy) knew she was passionate about pregnancy from a young age. A bit of a nerd in high school, she would go to the library and check out all the books she could find about pregnancy (and gave her mother a heart attack when she found them in the closet and had to ask, "Mandy, is there something you need to tell me??"). She graduated from Elmhurst College in 2009 with her Bachelor's in Nursing and Minor in Psychology. After working in Labor and Delivery as a nurse, she was quickly disappointed with the care she witnessed from some of the providers. She went back to school and graduated in 2012 from the University of Illinois at Chicago with her Master's in Nursing and began working as a Certified Nurse Midwife in Rockford, Illinois.

While working with a high risk, under-served population with a high incidence of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), she became frustrated with the lack of accessible mental health care options available to her patients. She went back to school again at Frontier Nursing University, where she graduated in 2020 as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Wanting to combine her passion for both Midwifery and Psychiatry, she received additional training and certification in Perinatal Mental Health.

She started Dahlia Center to provide this specialty care to improve outcomes for both her patients and their families. Mandy strongly believes in collaborative, trauma informed, patient-centered care. Because of her intimate knowledge of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, as well as her specialized training in perinatal mental health, she is able to offer a unique perspective and treatment experience.

When she's not working, she spends time with her incredibly supportive husband and very opinionated toddler on their farmette with their horse, miniature donkey, lambs, 3 dogs, and 2 cats.
