My Story
Yesenia’s work in reproductive health began in 2010, rooted in a long-standing interest in both psychology and patient-centered care. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, then earned her Master of Science in Nursing from DePaul University. It was during her decade at the bedside as a labor and delivery nurse that she discovered her passion for obstetric care and the deep relationships formed during life-changing moments.

Her commitment to reproductive health led her to complete a post-master’s program in midwifery at the University of Illinois in Chicago. She went on to work in reproductive endocrinology, where she supported individuals and couples navigating infertility, pursuing pregnancy, and experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss. These experiences gave her a unique perspective on the emotional landscape that accompanies reproductive challenges.

Most recently, Yesenia has been practicing as a full-scope midwife on Chicago’s south side, caring for adolescents, LGBTQIA+ patients, and other underserved communities. It was here, working with patients whose lives were shaped by complex social and emotional factors, that she witnessed how deeply mental health and reproductive health intersect. That insight, along with her passion for continued learning, inspired her to expand her training and pursue psychiatric mental health as an additional specialty.

Yesenia is known for her warm, grounded presence and her ability to connect with patients from all backgrounds. She draws on her wealth of clinical experience to offer trauma‑informed, inclusive care that honors each patient’s story. Her approach blends authenticity, compassion, and a commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces for healing.

Outside of work, Yesenia enjoys plant‑based cooking, growing vegetables, running, and spending time with her family and her dogs.
